| CARATs 'Counselling, Advice, Referral, Assessment and Throughcare' is a Home Office initiative for prisoners with substance misuse problems. Everyone coming into prison identified as having a drug problem is assessed, given advice about their misusing, and referred to the specific drug service they may need. CARAT workers can also give harm reduction advice and general drug awareness information and help those wishing to reduce or give up their drug misusing. |
