| Connexions is a free service, primarily for 13 – 19 year olds but will also work with up to 25 year olds with learning difficulties, offering advice, practical help and information about careers, education, training, employment and any other concerns a young person may have including problems with substance misuse. Everyone that contacts Connexions has access to a Personal Adviser who can offer support and organise referrals on to other professionals and organisations. Connexions Personal Advisors are sometimes based in other organisations that work with young people such as one-stop shops and Youth Offending Teams, as well as in schools, colleges and other less formal settings, making them easily accessible to young people. Connexions can also offer a range of diversionary activities to engage young people. Black Country Connexions is a partnership between Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton Connexions, operating over 4 areas with 4 local authorities, each of which has their own priorities but they work together developing common working practice and policies. |
