| Description |
This treatment service for young people is based within the adult service but a bid is being progressed to establish a separate Tier 4 prescribing caseload for the small number of severely affected young people with substance misuse problems who are referred by Young People’s workers.
They currently have an associate young person specialist who is able to prescribe for Young People.
Young People are always 'fast tracked' into the system which means that their key worker will get an admission date over the phone rather than having to wait for a pre-admission orientation visit
followed by an admission date for detox within 2 weeks.
Whilst at New House, the young person will retain their key worker from the referring agency (CSMT, IMPACT or GP) and will be allocated a Key Nurse and an associate nurse who will undertake session work with the young person, looking at their past and their present circumstances. They will together make plans for the future, offering practical advice and referral to other agencies where appropriate - the service is led by the needs of the individual.
Typically an Opiates detoxification takes 10 days, and alcohol detox 14 days and a detox for crack cocaine 3 weeks. The aftercare package will be lead by the agency Key worker. |
