| Description |
Having a job is an important part of belonging to and contributing to the life of a community but many young people finish school without the right skills to find and hold down a job.
Nacro runs pre-vocational and vocational training courses for 16 to 18 year olds, helping them develop skills and gain nationally recognised qualifications to improve their chances of getting a job. They specialise in working with young people who need extra support to take up and complete a training course.
The projects develop and run training courses in a range of vocational areas and most courses include a mixture of in-house training and work experience placements with local employers. Training can also include help with key skills, such as literacy, numeracy and communication, depending on individual needs.
Projects last sixteen weeks with initial assessment over an eight week period. Activities include music, art, communication skills and help with obtaining employment. Each young person takes part in drug awareness sessions and is assessed and referred on to other agencies should this be necessary.
The Entry to employment (e2e) scheme is a vocational training and work placement initiative designed to help young people develop skills and access employment opportunities. |
