I.M.P.S. links accident prevention to the national curriculum. Schools enrolling on the programme receive a free long term loan of the resource pack which includes teacher's information.
The programme involves a mixture of teacher led activities and activities where children work independently.
Sessions include 'How to deal with feeling pressurised into doing something', 'Making Decisions', 'Accidents in the Home', 'Poisons' and 'Fire Safety'.
As part of the programme a visit is also made to a local accident and emergency hospital where children get to see the principles they have learnt about, being put into practice in a real situation. |
| Objectives |
| The aims of I.M.P.S. are to reduce death and disability as a result of accidents to children between the ages of 10 and 11 who are statistically at greater risk. |
