Description
This programme commenced in May 2004, working with 50 Young People deemed most as at risk of offending, truancy, or social exclusion by the local Police, YOT, PRU's and Schools. It provides counselling and harm reduction drug education based on an holistic approach paying close attention to the areas of family and peer group.
Activities such as dance, drama, basketball and hockey will be on offer and the project will link very closely with St Georges High school.
Objectives
The aims of all Youth Inclusion Programmes are:
to ensure that at least 75% of the target group (the 50 most at risk young people) are engaged, and that those engaged receive at least 5 hours of appropriate interventions per week;
to reduce arrest rates among the target group by 70% compared to the 12 months prior to their engagement;
to ensure that 90% of those in the engaged target group are in suitable full-time education or employment.
