The Forum recently took part in a research project carried out by the University of Central Lancaster into drug misuse issues in the local community. As a result of this, they are now working on a DVD which is aimed at reducing the number of drug related deaths within the Sandwell Bangladeshi community. T he Bangladeshi/English language DVD will be made available to all Bangladeshi households in the Sandwell area through awareness events in each of the localities.
Local people have been used in the making of the film which features current drug users and recovering addicts talking about their life experiences, the treatments they've had access too and the help they have received. It will also help people identify the signs that someone could present with when using drugs and the symptoms of an overdose so that these situations can be recognised and hopefully lives saved.
