Tier 3 Counselling and Treatment Agency. A Virtual team offering an eclectic approach in trying to engage a young person so that they feel comfortable enough that they are willing to open up. Approaches used include brief solution focussed therapy, cognitive behaviour therapy and motivational interviewing techniques. Auricular acupuncture is also used and in the future it is hoped to offer Reiki and Head massage.
Needle exchange is through the local CDT (The Anchor Project). The current system used for prescribing is changing in the near future - rooms have been organised at a health centre and young people will be able to be seen by a young persons Practitioner, at the moment, they are seen by consultants at the Anchor Project.
The Young Persons Service Case worker will remain the key worker for the young person throughout any treatment.
Structured Group sessions are sometimes organised depending on the need.
Arrangements have been made to facilitate the meeting of young people at Connexions offices in the area. It is hoped that any young person will then take up any diversionary activities that are offered by the organisation.
Earlier in 2004, negations were underway with YOT regarding a new post, role to include casework, liaising with other agencies such as the Early Interventions Team dealing with mental health issues, and delivering drug awareness training to service providers and clients.
When handing over to the adult service, meetings will be arranged with the Head of the CDT to ensure continuity of care. |

| The Team aims to have a high enough profile so that everyone in the area knows that they exist so that anyone that has a substance misuse problem or knows someone that is causing them concern, knows how and where to get in touch with the service. |
