Working with all young people that are in the Criminal Justice system, from those that have received a final warning to those that have been ordered to serve a Referral Order, Reparation Order, Action Plan Order, Supervision Order, Community Rehabilitation Order, Community Punishment Order or Community Rehabilitation and Punishment Order.
If a custodial sentence is given, then the team will work with that person during their sentence regardless of where in the country they are sent, and will help them back into the community on their release.
There are also protocols in place to ensure that any Looked After Person has a placement on their release.
All the Youth Offending team members are trained to Tier 1 & 2 levels and work closely with the Young Person's Drug service, they have a full time drugs worker in their team and can offer basic drug information, counselling, treatment and a range of diversionary activities through the Young Person's service, Connexions and other agencies to anyone with substance misuse issues.
The service provides staff to support the SPLASH summer holiday activities schemes which have been co-ordinated by the Social Inclusion and Health Emergency Duty Team.
The YOT identifies young people at risk of offending and persistent offenders for referral to the Greets Green Youth Inclusion Programme (YIP). They also run workshops in schools based on the 'Prison Me? No Way' material. |
