| | Description | Part of the Connexions Black Country Partnership, Sandwell Connexions has two teams of PA's, one of which works in Schools and one which works in thematic areas such as PRU's, Asylum Seekers, Housing and with Looked After Children.
All PA's are able to offer Tier 1 interventions, group work and 1:1 sessions. Specialised drugs education work is undertaken in partnership with the Sandwell Drug Education Team.
If a young person requires treatment then they are referred to the Sandwell Young Person's Service. Referrals are also made to the local Positive Futures projects.
Day trips, sporting activities and specialist workshops are organised around the needs identified by the young people and have included dressmaking and drug education workshops. Approach to drugs is one of harm reduction but it depends on the needs as it presents. The focus is very much on meeting the young person at their point of need and working upwards. Getting to know the person and building a relationship with them, is seen as vital in getting a good result. The organisation looks for examples of good practice which they in turn incorporate to develop their work.
