| | Description | | All generic PA's have basic drugs awareness training so they are able to work with young people with substance misuse issues, there are also two substance misuse workers who are deployed with S.P.A.C.E. the local young people's service. These specialist PA's work with young people with substance misuse issues offering non-structured counselling, and informal advice and information. They also work alongside the S.P.A.C.E. targeted drug education worker offering group work within a PRU, E2E l, E2E, Social Services or YOS setting. Part of their work is in supporting other professionals’ e.g. residential workers, youth service workers, and generic Connexions PA's. The approach used is one of harm reduction with education with the final aim being abstinence. An important focus of their work is in keeping links with other agencies to provide a consistent service for young people so that it is easy for them to access the service, this involves regular meetings and contact. | | Staff Profile | | 2 Substance Misuse workers + generic PA's | | Linked Organisations | | Inter-agency work is vital and includes links with CDT, Turning Point and the Youth Offending Service.
