| Description |
Life Education Centre is a national drug prevention charity, building partnerships with primary schools and the community as a whole to support and promote recognised best practice in health education. Centres are located around the country and each local group will own, fund and run their own mobile classroom/s.
Techniques such as Circle time, role-play and positive behaviour management strategies are used to develop positive attitudes, communication and assertiveness skills with the aim of providing knowledge and understanding of the human body and how to make positive choices that improve health and well-being. |
| Mission Statement |
The mission of all Life Education Projects is to work in partnership with schools and engage with others in the community to help children make healthy choices by: contributing to life-skills and health education programmes utilising models of best practice;
educating children about the effects and risks associated with the use of drugs, including alcohol and tobacco;
working with and supporting parents, carers, teachers and others in the community in communicating healthy life-styles messages effectively. |
| Objectives |
| The aim of the project is to assist in the achievement of learning outcomes for health promotion, drug education and citizenship through delivery of exemplary programmes that support recognised best practice in primary drug education and as an integral part of the national drug prevention strategy. Their objectives are to work with communities to reduce the risks of drug misuse by young people, help children develop their ability to make positive choices about their health, to provide age appropriate facts to help children make informed decisions, to empower children with skills and self-confidence to put their decisions into practice. |
