Description
The Team works towards the National Drug Strategy Guidelines and the Young Person's Substance Misuse Plan using a multi-agency approach to plan for young people across the 5 Outputs.

They work closely on policy development with Connexions, the Youth Offending Service and Social Services. Identifying gaps in provision they will work with reference groups - Foster Carers, Social Services field workers, to establish what they feel is needed and what they want to see in place. Policies are led by the workers but always include input from young people.

In partnership with Connexions, Turning Point, YOS and Social Services, a Multi Agency Substance Screening Tool (MASST) has been developed to be used by all Tier 1 providers in Worcestershire.

A group of vulnerable and hard to reach young people not in full time education have been identified and the team is working on ways to engage and work with them. They would also like to involve Travellers in future plans. Also works with Foster Carers, parent, residential and field social workers in identifying targeted work with young people.
Mission Statement
They have six broad aims, to:
protect vulnerable children and adults,
maximise the independence and community participation of vulnerable adults,
maximise the life chances of vulnerable children,
deliver services in partnership with service users and carers,
use resources effectively and fairly,
develop effective partnerships with other agencies and organisations.

We aim to assist people of all cultures, creeds and social backgrounds, who experience significant personal difficulties by:
promoting their personal safety
helping people to solve problems
enhancing independence quality of life and personal choices
sustaining people's rights and responsibilities
In achieving this, we must have regard for both the legal framework and value for money, and must target resources where they are most needed.
Therefore, we will give priority to those people who are most vulnerable or at risk.
