| Description |
The YOT uses ASSET assessment tool to assess the young people they are working with. If a substance misuse issue is raised then the young person is referred to one of the Drugs Workers on the team.
The service also has a worker being trained in Behavioural Family Therapy so that more intense work can be undertaken with families with young offenders.
Targeted prevention and educational work is undertaken with young people and the service also acts as sign posters to further appropriate services and specialist interventions such as IMPACT (for alcohol problems) and the CSMT (for drugs treatment).
Each young person will be allocated a case worker who they will meet with on a regular basis. The case worker will work with the young person on a wide range of issues covering anger management, peer pressure, relationships and family dynamics, substance misuse, self esteem, making decisions and the consequences of those decisions and victim empathy. They will also support the young person in attending school, liaising with the school to address any attendance or school based issues. |
