| | Description | The service offers a Tier 2/3 Assessment, intervention and referral service. There are a range of issues as to why young people are referred and activity can range from delivering general drugs awareness training to intense 1:1 counselling and referral on to other organisations for treatment.
Young People referred through the Youth Offending system have to be seen within 5 days and the YOT Drugs worker can organise access to appropriate medical care such as detox and prescription programs, auricular acupuncture, needle exchange and can offer support around housing, leisure and other social issues.
Referrals can also be organised to voluntary organisations if appropriate or the PCT and Base 25 (Wolverhampton Young Peoples' Service) but the Drugs worker will remain as the key worker for that young person and will devise a care package which will cover any time spent in custody and incorporate any work carried out by the CARAT service.
The approach used is one of harm reduction and prevention. | | Staff Profile | | 1 Drugs Worker | | Linked Organisations | | Subs at Base 25, PCT Addiction Services, CARAT and other voluntary organisations that work with young people. |
