| Description |
Coventry Youth Offending Service is a multi-agency organisation that aims to reduce offending by children and young people aged 10-17 and to have a preventive role in reducing the risks of offending by all young people.
The service works in partnership with the City Council running summer activities for young people to keep them occupied and away from crime. Young people with drug and alcohol problems receive specialist help from drugs workers from the Discovery project in Coventry.
Several schemes are run which are designed to prevent youths from re-offending. The service has developed tailor made packages which include aspects of community punishment and reparation alongside education and training. One project is in partnership with an independent city centre management company and is aimed at shoplifters and vandals. The aim is for young offenders to learn about how their behaviour affects other people and the local community. |
