Description
Staff at the project will look at all the issues surrounding someone’s drug taking, including looking at how it affects their family and friendships. They will also look at harm reduction and safer usage. A member of the Young People’s Substance Misuse Service attends the Friday drop-in session.

Counselling consists of 6 1:1 sessions which run over the course of 6 weeks and can cover any issues the young person may present with from relationships, drug and alcohol issues and sexual health. The aim of the course of sessions is to empower the young person to do things for themselves. During the first session all issues affecting the young person are explored. This could result in offers of practical help such as help with using the Internet. The last session is an evaluation of everything discussed and arranged and could possibly lead to signposting to another appropriate service.(Social Services, Connexions, The Depot, YHP) If a young person feels s/he would benefit from further sessions then these can be arranged.

All young people who have attended Fusion leave knowing that they can go back at any time should they need further support.

Drop-in sessions at the Arcade on Mondays 12:30 – 14:00 and Fridays 14:30 – 16:30 and at Atherstone Citizens Advice Bureau on Wednesday’s 16:30 – 18:30 Internet facilities are also available during these sessions.

Fusion also works on projects with North Warwickshire Borough Council for young people using art, music, dance and drama.

They are also involved with NEAT – Not in Education Training, a 10 week course run with Connexions aiming to give young people increased confidence. A very successful course covering interview techniques, visits to local colleges, self-defence and relaxation. Each course has a maximum of 15 young people.
Working with Community Education, Fusion will also undertake work in youth clubs in the area around the issues of sexual health and drugs misuse.
