| | Description | Young People’s service offering advice and information on drugs and alcohol, prescribing, counselling, education and training.
An holistic approach operates at all levels throughout the two projects.
Prescribing interventions are appropriate to age, maturity and development of the young person. An assessment of each young person is carried out before they see the Doctor. Together with the young person, these professionals, will agree an appropriate prescribing and care programme.
The service considers it to be good practice to involve parents or carers in the treatment of their children and will usually require written consent before any drug or alcohol intervention is offered to a young person under 16 yrs. They will encourage all under 18yr olds to involve parents and carers.
Counselling is available and will work towards enabling young people to identify factors relating to their substance misuse and to help them achieve positive changes in their lifestyles.

Community detoxification.
