| Description |
The Peer led mentoring course for substance misuse issues involves training volunteers and was written in partnership with a freelance trainer and accredited through the Open College Network.
They have 4 mentors and 11 volunteers who have been trained to deliver education and training within schools and colleges. The project has found that young people have not been committed to attending a structured programme in a non-formalised setting. Participants have preferred to attend when they feel they need to and have not seen the benefits regular attendance could bring, so mentoring interventions have tended to be less formal that at first planned.
It has proved important to have an adequate referral system in place to other tier 2/3 agencies. |
