| Description |
Youth and Community services in Sandwell are based in the towns of Oldbury, Rowley Regis, Smethwick, Tipton, Wednesdbury and West Bromwich.
Each town seeks to provide a range of community activities for Young People delivered through Youth Clubs, School Based Clubs, Detached Youth Work, Cyber-cafes and Youth Forums.
The Youth Strategy team has strong links with the Sandwell Drug Education Team who would be approached first to assist in any drug awareness sessions or projects related to substance misuse that Youth workers needed to run in any of their clubs or youth settings. |
| Mission Statement |
The aim of the youth service is to contribute to young people’s
development, enabling them to be active citizens and support their
transition into adulthood. (Youth Service plan 04/05) |
| Objectives |
In response to the Government’s ‘Transforming Youth Work’
agenda to promote good youth work, Sandwell Council has
highlighted three key objectives. These are:
(a) To help give young people a “voice”;
(b) To provide young people with challenging, quality, experiences
in an informal setting;
(c) To provide young people with information advice guidance and

| The Youth Strategy Team comprises of 1 volunteer worker, 4 members, 2 service development officers and a manager. Two of the Team have been seconded to the Drug Education Team. |
