The Schools Drugs Advisor is able to offer training for teachers on all issues relating to drugs education and awareness together with support in policy development, drug related curriculum delivery, incident management & Protective Behaviours procedures.
Part of the role of the advisor is to bid for funding for projects where it has been identified there is a gap in drugs education. The advisor also runs the Drug Education Support Group for teachers and professionals working with young people. This group includes member from: the Subs team (young persons substance misuse service), PRU's, YMCA Triangle Project, CDI (Community Drug initiative) for BME groups and Social Services Residential settings). If areas of issue are identified and cannot be resolved within the group, then the Advisor will bid for funding.
Although most of the work carried out by the Drugs advisor affects young people up to the age of 16, work is also undertaken in 6th forms and PRU's. |
